Hair Fall Treatments Aftercare: First Week Do's and Don'ts for Your Hair Loss Treatment
By Belladonna laser&skin clinic | August 23, 2026
We’re based in Windsor, and we do Hair Fall Treatments (mesotherapy) every week. If you want the single rule that protects your result the most, it’s this: keep your scalp calm and dry for the first 24 to 48 hours. That’s when your scalp is settling after we’ve delivered peptides and vitamins to support healthier growth. One client told us that by their second session their scalp condition already felt better and they were noticing baby hairs starting to come in. Aftercare is how we help those early signs stay on track.
Quick context: Hair Fall Treatments are a 60-minute mesotherapy session ($170) where we stimulate angiogenesis (new blood vessels) to nourish each hair bulb and support healthy growth over time. Your aftercare is about protecting that freshly treated scalp so it can do its job.
First 24 to 48 hours: the rules that prevent irritation and wasted results
Right after your session, your scalp can feel a bit tender or look slightly pink in spots. That’s normal. What we don’t want is heat, friction, sweat, or harsh products piling on top of that.
Do this
- Keep the scalp dry. We generally recommend avoiding washing your hair for 24 to 48 hours so the scalp can settle.
- Keep hands off. Light itching can happen, but scratching is what turns “fine” into “angry scalp.”
- Sleep with your head on a clean pillowcase and try not to rub your scalp into the fabric.
- If we gave you timing for any topical products, follow that schedule. If you’re unsure, let us know and we’ll walk you through it.
Skip this
- Heavy workouts and anything that makes you sweat a lot. We generally recommend 48 to 72 hours off intense exercise because sweat and heat can irritate the scalp.
- Saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, and very hot showers.
- Hats or tight helmets for long periods if you can avoid them. Friction and trapped heat can be a problem, especially in Windsor’s August humidity and lake-effect weather.
- Heat styling right at the roots. Give your scalp a breather.
If you commute by car on a hot day, keep the cabin cool and avoid blasting hot air at your scalp. And if you’re a shift worker, we can usually line up early morning or later check-ins on the Tecumseh Road East corridor near Lauzon Parkway and Forest Glade so you’re not trying to squeeze it into a stressful window.
Days 3 to 7: keep the “baby hairs” phase protected
This is the week where people get excited. We hear it a lot: scalp feels healthier, shedding feels calmer, hairline starts to look a little better, and those tiny baby hairs become noticeable. It’s also the week where one or two bad choices can irritate the scalp and slow you down.
For the first week, we generally recommend: no pools, no hot tubs, and no direct sun on the scalp. Chlorine, heat, and UV can all be irritating, and irritated scalps don’t grow happy hair.
If you’re trying to “stop losing hair, ” focus on the basics
Hair loss therapy isn’t just one appointment and done. Your plan usually works best when we pair treatments with low-drama habits. Gentle washing, less scalp picking, and fewer “let’s try this intense scrub” moments make a bigger difference than people expect.
Can thinning hair grow back?
Often, yes, especially when the follicles are still active and we can improve scalp condition and support the bulb. Mesotherapy is one way we support that process by delivering peptides and vitamins and encouraging better nourishment through angiogenesis. Growth takes time. Early signs like improved scalp condition and baby hairs are encouraging, and consistent aftercare helps protect those signs while you’re building momentum.
Shampoo, products, and styling: what we want on your scalp this week
Product overload is one of the biggest reasons people feel extra itchy after a scalp treatment. Keep it simple for the first week.
- Choose a mild, sulfate-free shampoo and keep your water lukewarm. Hot water tends to trigger more redness and itch.
- Avoid strong actives on the scalp while it’s settling, like retinoids, exfoliating acids, or harsh scrubs.
- Go easy on dry shampoo. It’s convenient, but it can build up fast and you’ll feel it.
- Hold off on chemical services like colour or perming until your scalp is calm. If your scalp feels sensitive or looks pink, wait longer and ask us first.
And yes, heat styling counts. If you have to blow dry, use the lowest comfortable heat and keep the nozzle moving. Don’t park it on your part line.
When to call us (and when a quick check-in is all you need)
A little redness, tenderness, or mild sensitivity can be normal early on. What we don’t want is anything that’s getting worse instead of settling.
Reach out to our team right away if you notice: worsening pain, redness that spreads, fever, pus or unusual discharge, or new numbness that doesn’t make sense.
We take aftercare seriously. People tell us they feel comfortable here and appreciate how clearly we explain each step. One regular put it simply: they “started seeing positive changes from my first session” and felt we “take great care of our clients.” That’s the standard we keep, whether you’re coming in from Windsor, Tecumseh, LaSalle, Amherstburg, Lakeshore, or you’re crossing over from Detroit for follow-ups.
If you want us to take a look, quick post-treatment check-ins are easy to fit in when you’re already along Tecumseh Road East near Lauzon Parkway and Forest Glade. We’ll confirm healing looks normal, review your home routine, and map out the next step so you’re not guessing.
