Your First Consultation: What We'll Cover and How to Prepare
By Belladonna laser&skin clinic | October 28, 2026
East Windsor, ON, Tecumseh Road East corridor (near Lauzon Parkway and Forest Glade)
People tell us all the time they started seeing positive changes from the first session, and that we take great care of them. If you’re feeling nervous about your first consultation, that’s normal. Most first-timers just want straight answers: What’s safe for my skin? How long will it take? What will it cost? And will it hurt?
Our consultation is a focused, low-pressure visit. We’ll talk through your concern, look at the area we’d be treating, and map out realistic next steps. You’ll leave with a plan you can actually schedule around, especially if you’re juggling shift work or commuting in and out of Windsor.
A 15-minute skin consultation prep checklist (so we can be efficient)
Our 15-minute free consultation moves quickly, in a good way. The more clearly you can show us what you’re seeing and tell us what you’ve tried, the faster we can give you an honest recommendation. That honest opinion matters. We hear it a lot.
Bring these 4 things: photo ID, a list of medications and supplements, your recent skincare or hair products (or a quick phone note of them), and photos of your concern or your goal (especially if it flares up).
- Tell us what matters most. For example, “I need minimal downtime, ” or “I’m okay with a series if it’s worth it.”
- Be upfront about recent sun exposure and any recent treatments. Things like a fresh chemical peel, intense sun, or irritation can change timing.
- If you’re coming from Tecumseh, LaSalle, Amherstburg, Lakeshore, or Detroit, let us know your schedule constraints. We’ll keep the plan realistic.
When you arrive in East Windsor: the consultation flow, step by step
We’re located in East Windsor along the Tecumseh Road East corridor, with easy access off E.C. Row. When you get here, we’ll start with a quick intake so we’re not guessing about your health history, medications, and anything that could affect safety or results.
Next, we’ll take a look at your skin or the area you’re concerned about. This isn’t a rushed glance. We want to see texture, tone, sensitivity, and what your skin tends to do over time. If you’re coming in to talk laser, microneedling, acne support, or hair-related concerns, the assessment helps us choose the right starting point and set expectations.
The conversation part is the whole point
Then we talk goals. We’ll ask what you want to change, what you’re nervous about, and what would count as a win for you. And we’ll be direct if something isn’t a good fit. One couple summed it up perfectly: they booked in, had a consultation, and appreciated getting an honest opinion, then decided they’d be back.
We’ll cover contraindications.
This is where we check for anything that means we should pause, adjust timing, or choose a different approach. It’s also where we talk patch testing if it’s relevant.
We’ll map out timing and cost.
You’ll leave knowing the likely number of sessions, spacing, downtime, and aftercare commitments so you can plan around work and life.
"Mai is the best! she always informs me about the details of my procedure and I always feel relaxed when I come to her ❤️"
one of our regulars
Before you leave, we’ll recap the plan in plain language. If you want to think about it, that’s fine. If you want to move forward, we’ll talk next steps and scheduling.
Same-day treatment after a consultation: when it’s possible, when we wait
People ask this a lot, especially if they’re coming in from Tecumseh Road East after work and want to be efficient. Sometimes we can do a same-day treatment after we assess you, but it depends on what you’re booking and what we see during the consult.
- We may wait for a patch test. If your skin is reactive, or the service calls for it, a patch test can save you a lot of frustration later.
- We may wait for medical clearance. Certain medications and conditions can change what’s safe to do right away.
- We may wait because of skin readiness. Recent sun exposure, irritation, or strong actives can mean your skin needs a little buffer time.
If you want a deeper read on this, we broke it down in consultation vs. same-day treatment.
After your consultation: what you’ll do next (and what we generally recommend)
A consult is short, but it should leave you feeling clear. If you decide to move forward with a service plan, we’ll go over the prep you’ll need for that specific treatment. We’ll also talk about what “normal” looks like after, so you don’t go home and second-guess every sensation.
In general, we recommend keeping things simple before and after many skin services: avoid intense sun exposure, skip harsh exfoliation if you’re irritated, and pause strong actives like retinoids if we tell you to. We’ll be specific for your situation. If you’re using prescription products, bring them up during your consult so we can plan timing safely.

Planning tip: If you’re trying to coordinate appointments across Windsor, LaSalle, or even Detroit, ask us about spacing between sessions during the consult so you don’t end up squeezing things too close together.
Want more detail about what happens right after? We put that into consultation results and next steps.
The little things that make first-timers relax fast (and come back)
Here’s what we’ve noticed after years of doing this in Windsor. People settle in when they feel informed, not rushed. They like hearing the details of the procedure in plain language. And they appreciate kindness that feels real, not performative.
If you’re the type who needs to understand the “why, ” tell us up front. We’ll walk you through options and timing, then we’ll help you pick a plan that makes sense for your skin and your calendar. That’s a big reason so many people stick with us for months. They start with a consult, see progress early in their series, and don’t feel like they’re guessing anymore.
If you’re coming down Tecumseh Road East and you’re on a tight schedule: book the consultation first. We can often answer your safety, timing, and cost questions in 15 minutes and tell you if same-day treatment makes sense.
